Who we are
The organization is a collaboration of volunteers, students, friends, and benefactors from around the world. Songtsen is directed by Pema Wangyal Rinpoche and Jigme Khyentse Rinpoche, both Tibetan lamas and sons of Kangyur Rinpoche, who have been living in Europe for more than 30 years.
Songtsen’s projects are executed by a group of Tibetans and Westerners with over twenty years of experience. Songtsen’s volunteers and organizers include Tibetan lamas, engineers, teachers, doctors, and other professionals with extensive first-hand knowledge of the challenges, tasks and background of each project. Songtsen mainly functions with the help of volunteers, with only a few part time staff. Of the several hundred students who have followed the three-year retreat cycle of intensive training, a group of thirty continues to devote their time to the organization of programmes, seminars and retreats, as well as to the translation and publishing of Tibetan texts, and to other Songtsen projects.
