About Siddhartha
Siddhartha aims to help children in need around the world, with a focus on Himalayan children. In particular, Siddhartha aims to support the most deprived of Tibetan refugee children, and to offer them an education in the context of their own traditions. This allows them to retain their cultural identity, and continue the transmission of their culture which is threatened with extinction in Tibet.
Support for Tibetan refugee children

OKC Darjeeling
In the early 1960’s, Kangyur Rinpoche established a small monastery, called Orgyen Kunzang Chökhorling. Currently, Pema Wangyal Rinpoche continues the vision of his father, overseeing the monastery that currently shelters more than forty monks, children and young adults.
Sponsorship program
In order to help support the monasteries that receive and educate the children, Siddhartha put a system of sponsorship in place. Siddhartha sponsors enrich the lives of Tibetan and Himalayan children, who would otherwise suffer from poverty and deprived conditions. Furthermore, through Siddhartha sponsorships, Tibetan refugee children are given a chance to fully inherit their cultural and spiritual traditions. For approximately 1 € per day, one can assure the future of a child.
Siddhartha projects
With the principle objective of helping Tibetan and Himalayan children in need, Siddhartha engages in numerous ongoing and one-off projects. The following list outlines the major projects, both new and ongoing, in 2007.
- Support for Tibetan refugees: Assistance for refugee monks, nuns, & children: Regular support for Tibetan refugees, including orphanages, institutes, and monasteries
- Pegasus school project: The rescue and education of destitute Nepali children, particularly city street kids
- Maratika school project: The repair of a primary school and construction of a secondary school in Maratika, Nepal
