Jigme Khyentse Rinpoche
Jigme Khyentse Rinpoche
Jigme Khyentse Rinpoche is the third son of the late Kangyur Rinpoche and one of the main directors of Songtsen. He was recognized by Kyabje Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche, Kyabje Dudjom Rinpoche and H.H. the 16th Karmapa as the incarnation of Jamyang Khyentse Chokyi Lodrö, one of the greatest Tibetan masters of the 20th century. Jigme Khyentse Rinpoche spent his childhood in Darjeeling and later spent much of his time with Kyabje Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche in India, Nepal and Bhutan, receiving many precious teachings.
In 1980, Rinpoche came to Europe with his mother, Amala (Champa Chökyi Khandro - Kangyur Rinpoche's sangyum) and the rest of his family. He has engaged in studies with many great Lamas and scholars in Buddhist philosophy, who marveled at the rate in which he excelled far beyond the customary propensity at his age. In September 2005, he was awarded the title of Khenpo (one of the highest degrees of knowledge granted in the Tibetan education system, which is comparable to a Western PhD) by His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
Jigme Khyentse Rinpoche frequently gives teachings in France and in various other countries, in both French and English. He also oversees Padmakara’s translation projects, assisting the translators with information and supervising the translation of texts from Tibetan into Western languages.
