About KRF Development

KRF Development is a humanitarian initiative that began over thirty years. The project works through the Kangyur Rinpoche Foundation fund and external organizations to provide resources for the economic and cultural development of Tibetan refugee communities in India, Nepal, Bhutan and Sikkim.
With a strong focus being to preserve the ancient Buddhist heritage and culture of Tibet, KRF Development safeguards the identity of Himalayan communities by providing the infrastructure for the transmission of their cultural heritage. It also targets specific projects related to groups who do not benefit from international aid programmes.
The preservation of Tibetan culture & traditions

The new millennium is a turning point in the situation of Tibetans in exile. Amongst the 111,000 Tibetans who sought refuge in India in the late fifties and early sixties, were some of the last and most authentic holders of a wisdom tradition thousands of years old unparalleled in the modern world. As there are now so few of the “elders” left, it is vital to provide them with the means to pass their remarkable inheritance on to the younger generation of Tibetans and to the rest of the world.
Supporting the Tibetan monastic tradition

KRF’s organizers have found from long experience in these regions, that the construction of a monastery plays a fundamental role in reestablishing the social fabric of the community. The Tibetan institutions particularly enable elders and scholars to pass on their wisdom.
