Support for Tibetan refugees: Providing resources for training & economic development
This project was created with the goal of providing resources for Tibetan refugees in India, Nepal, Bhutan and Sikkim, particularly in the field of economic and cultural development. With a strong focus being to preserve the ancient Buddhist heritage and culture of Tibet, KRF works towards re-establishing and sustaining the social and cultural life of Tibetan communities, in exile and also in Tibet, through specific one-off projects.
Within these activities includes, providing educational support, financial aid, and medical care in Tibetan settlements. KRF Development also provides economic and community support for Tibetan monasteries.
Every year, Songtsen helps to support a large number of monks and nuns who have been brought up in exile, or who have escaped Tibet in order to be free from the Chinese persecution. Many of the monasteries and nunneries in India, Nepal and Bhutan do not have adequate space and their living conditions are rudimentary. The funds given to the monasteries help to support basic daily needs and to improve the health, education and living conditions of the monks and nuns.
