The Teachers & Spiritual Directors
The organization was first inspired by Kangyur RInpoche, a highly revered Tibetan lama living in exile in Darjeeling, India in the 1960's and 1970's. Since 1975, Chanteloube was guided under the close spiritual leadership of H.H. Dudjom Rinpoche and H.H. Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche, who are considered two of the greatest representatives of the Nyingmapa school, the oldest school of Tibetan Buddhism. The present directors are Pema Wangyal Rinpoche and Jigme Khyentse Rinpoche.
As Tibetan Buddhism every where depends on the blessings and guidance of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, so too Chanteloube depends on the inspiration of his wisdom and compassion. Therefore, it goes without saying that we rely on H.H. the Dalai Lama as one of our main teachers. In addition, Songtsen is dedicated to supporting the continuous efforts of H.H. the Dalai Lama, whose guidance and inspiration upholds Tibetan Buddhism and culture.

About the spiritual directors
Songtsen is directed by Pema Wangyal Rinpoche and Jigme Khyentse Rinpoche, the sons and spiritual heirs of the late Kangyur Rinpoche and close disciples of both Kyabje Dudjom Rinpoche and Kyabje Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche. Their father, Kyabje Kangyur Rinpoche, was a remarkable realized teacher, and his family, now resident in Dordogne, provides inspiration through their ceaseless dharma activity and support for the organization’s activities (see Songtsen: location).
