Volunteer your skills

Songtsen volunteers are the vital pillars of the organization. We are profoundly grateful to all of Songtsen’s volunteers who have generously offered their time and energy to our administration, programmes, and ongoing projects. Their hard work and dedication greatly support our activities and charity projects (see Acknowledgements).

If you are interested in becoming a Songtsen volunteer, we have a variety of areas that may be of interest. Please contact us at support@songtsen.org.

The following areas are often in need of volunteer service:

Technical support

Songtsen occasionally requires technical support & expertise. We are also in need of a volunteer to help with the technical maintenance of Songtsen’s website.

Office & communications support

Songtsen’s operations could not function smoothly without the generous help of our administration volunteers who help manage communications, oversee projects, plan events, help maintain the Songtsen website, and provide accounting support.

Songtsen field experts

Our volunteer field experts provide invaluable support in the successful implementation of Songtsen’s aid projects. Without the kindness and enthusiasm of volunteer engineers, architects, lawyers, etc., many of our community development projects and non-profit services would not be possible.

Online charity auctions

There are several charity auction sites that facilitate online auctions for charities. There are several ways to help:

Conduct a charity auction as a Songtsen benefit

You can carry out your own online auction if:

1. If you have received Songtsen’s approval to conduct an auction on its behalf

2. If you have collected or possess items that you wish to auction

3. If you have a website and online auction software (many web hosting companies offer free online auction scripts)

The following charity auction sites are well established and most recommended:

eBay® Charity Auctions -- Charity auctions are not subject to the same fee structure as regular auctions on the site

Yahoo Auctions – Yahoo provides a general auction service with a special section devoted to charity auctions.

Suggest and implement your own ideas & events

Some of our members and friends have been very creative in helping to support Songtsen. For example, one of our friends in Canada exhibits her paintings using a simple auction system, with all proceeds dedicated to project Siddhartha. If you have a fundraising idea or have a proposal for your own fundraising event, please contact us first. If our directors approve the proposal, we would be more than happy to supply you with helpful literature about Songtsen’s activities. We greatly welcome your suggestions and your interest.

Link to us: Post our link on your website

Help people to learn more about Songtsen, as well as our cultural preservation work and Tibetan aid projects, by posting our link on your website. There are several ways of doing this:

1. To place a link to Songtsen’s website enter the following information on your site: Organization: Songtsen URL: http://www.songtsen.org Description: The rescue, preservation & accessibility of Tibet’s cultural & spiritual heritage. Sponsors projects in education, medicine, & preservation; supports monasteries & impoverished communities in Asia.

2. To include one of our ‘Help Preserve Tibetan Culture and Wisdom’ Buttons, simply save any of the graphic buttons below and copy and paste the HTML code below. The button will then provide a link that your visitors can click to visit Songtsen’s website. Please email info@songtsen.org if you have any questions.

Reciprocal links

If your organization would like to request a reciprocal link, here is the procedure. If you meet the following conditions, your site will be granted a reciprocal link to your site from our Links Page:

1. Your site's content is appropriately related to the content and theme of Songtsen’s website.

2. Your site is regularly updated and contains current information with functional links.

3. Your site provides educational or informative content.

4. You have posted a link to Songtsen’s website using our "Link to us" guidelines above.

As soon as we receive your link request, we will be happy to review your site for a possible reciprocal link on our Link resources page. Please email links@songtsen.org with the following information:
Your Website's Name (i.e. Songtsen)
URL (i.e. http://www.songtsen.org)
Desription for your link (i.e. Tibetan Studies Center –Courses in Tibetan Language & Culure); Description length should be 25 words or less.
